.. to the same little house on the prarie, where we’ll sing you some country rock ballads and comb your hair.

Melbourne

Meg and I flitted down to Melbourne for a great extended long weekend a couple of weeks back. Once again we stayed with the ever hospitable Jess.

The original motivation for going was to see Damien Rice, but that’s a whole other blog entry .. or two.

While we were sitting around twiddling our thumbs waiting for that, we squeezed in a picnic by the river, a drive down the coast to a crazy sand sculpture competiton, an awesome swim on one of those bonkers 38° days, a cough “inerpretive human art show” cough, a bit of lounging around, pancakes!, some shopping, home made ravioli, lunch on Lygon street and Moscovite something or others by the river. Phew.

Oh I nearly forget, Jess has a dyslexic fish, it’s hilarious, it swims around and slowly turns upside down, until it gets annoyed and trys to put itself up the right way. Priceless.

Didn’t take enough photos, but here’s a few, I think I’ve got a few more on my phone if I can ever get them off.

Riding around

Logo

Since I got my new bike a while back I’ve been riding even more. I really shouldn’t have waited so long to get a new bike, it’s such a breath of fresh air. The gearing is much better suited to the riding I’m doing, and the riding position is real sweet.

Meg and I have done a stack of rides around town, here’s some photos from just a few.

As a trial for riding to LCA, which we eventually piked on, Tony and I rode to Braidwood one weekend. We left about 6 I think, nice and early to beat the traffic, which was a great decision as it was pretty quiet until well past half way.

We could have done without some of the hills, boy is it bumpy, you don’t notice it in the car so much. And the roadworks made for some interesting moments, but a great ride all the same.

PParrrrtyyyy

It might have been November, I don’t remember anyway I was too drunk, but we had a house party, because er .. I forget – but I’m sure there was a good reason.

The theme from memory was “Your Year 16 Formal” or “You’re a SuperHero”, so most of the girls came dressed in frocks with tissues in their bras and most of the guys wore their undies on the outside and their socks .. well not on their feet.

North Head again

Logo

We went to North Head, I think it was in November, it was great. We ate bacon and eggs all the time, and when we weren’t we were eating white bread with Brie.

There were sparklers, some swims, snoozing and general lazing about, tops.

Bristol Point

Way back, sometime god knows when last year, we headed down to Bristol Point at Jervis Bay for the weekend.

The weather wasn’t tops, no swimming was had, but we had a pretty good time anyway just hanging out and relaxing.

Photos thanks to Mum and Dad and Ange, so slightly out of order, sue me.

Polish

This is one for the nerds in the audience. See if you can guess what about the following screenshot impressed me:

Google Calendar

Got it?

Despite being offline, it still notifies me of my appointments. Now that I think about it, it’s not that hard to implement, but I think you have to give them credit for being thorough.
